The Sophia-Rey occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1440 metres on a north-facing slope of Swakum Mountain, south of Rey Creek and approximately 2.3 kilometres northeast of Sophia Lake.
The area is underlain by interbedded volcanic and sedimentary rocks belonging to the Upper Triassic Nicola Group. The volcanic rocks consist of andesitic flows, porphyries, breccias and tuffs intercalated with limestone, argillite, greywacke and conglomerate. Bedding indicates a regional asymmetric anticline has its axis plunging south-southeast near Swakum Mountain. The Nicola Group rocks are bounded to the east and west by Lower Jurassic granitic intrusives.
Locally, a 0.5- by 4-metre outcrop of massive pyrrhotite-pyrite-magnetite skarn has been identified in an area of intense pyrite-quartz-sericite alteration. The mineralized zone strikes north-south and dips from flat to 10 degrees to the east.
In 2013, a rock sample (LM-13-CR03) assayed 0.501 per cent copper and 36.1 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 34441).
