The Ponderosa Southeast occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1200 metres on a northeast trending ridge, west of the Coldwater River and approximately 2.1 kilometres south of the south end of Lily Lake.
Regionally, the area is underlain by andesitic volcanic rocks of the Lower Cretaceous Spius Creek Formation (Spences Bridge Group), which are locally overlain by andesitic volcanic rocks of the Eocene Princeton Group. Granodioritic intrusive rocks of the Permian to Triassic Mount Lytton Complex outcrop to the southeast.
Locally, a 20-centimetre wide, northeast-trending and vertical-dipping zone of hematite-silica alteration with quartz veinlets and breccia has been identified.
In 2006, two samples (MC-R317 and PON-R50) yielded 0.120 and 0.764 gram per tonne gold, respectively (Assessment Report 28830).
