The Highway South occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 980 metres, adjacent to the Coquihalla Highway and approximately 3.7 kilometres southwest of Iron Mountain.
Regionally, the area is underlain by undivided volcanic rocks of the Western Volcanic Facies of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group.
Locally, a roadcut along the Coquihalla Highway has exposed a malachite-stained porphyritic andesite with disseminated chalcopyrite. Malachite staining is associated with narrow, southeast-striking, fractures and an 8-centimetre wide horizontal fault is also reported.
In 1986, a grab sample (STR-86-18R) from the first zone assayed 2.93 per cent copper, whereas a nearby sample (STR-86-14R) of gouge material from the fault yielded 0.55 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 16058).
