The Rick 16 occurrence is located on a small hill, approximately 5.5 kilometres east of Sugarloaf Mountain.
Regionally, the area is underlain by andesitic volcanic rocks of the Central Volcanic Facies of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group that have been intruded by Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic dioritic rocks.
Locally, an andesite hosts quartz stringers with chalcopyrite and molybdenite.
In 1966, a grab sample assayed 0.2 gram per tonne gold, 66.7 grams per tonne silver, 0.23 per cent copper and 0.087 per cent molybdenite, whereas a chip sample yielded 20.5 grams per tonne silver, 0.02 per cent copper and 0.008 per cent molybdenite over 2.1 metres (Assessment Report 763).
