Capsule Geology

The Rick 16 occurrence is located on a small hill, approximately 5.5 kilometres east of Sugarloaf Mountain.

Regionally, the area is underlain by andesitic volcanic rocks of the Central Volcanic Facies of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group that have been intruded by Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic dioritic rocks.

Locally, an andesite hosts quartz stringers with chalcopyrite and molybdenite.

In 1966, a grab sample assayed 0.2 gram per tonne gold, 66.7 grams per tonne silver, 0.23 per cent copper and 0.087 per cent molybdenite, whereas a chip sample yielded 20.5 grams per tonne silver, 0.02 per cent copper and 0.008 per cent molybdenite over 2.1 metres (Assessment Report 763).

Work History

In 1966, Ramada Mines Ltd. completed a program of rock sampling and a 35.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Rick 1-20 claims. Also at this time, a program of soil sampling and minor trenching was completed on the area immediately west of the occurrence as the Eve 1-20 claims and a 61.7 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area immediately east of the occurrence as the Ester and Ruth claims.

In 1980, Cominco Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping and a 20.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area immediately east of the occurrence as the Payday 1-2 claims. Also at this time, Lodestar Energy Inc. completed an airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area immediately south of the occurrence as the Nicola 1 claim.

In 1984, Futurtek Communications Inc. completed a program of soil sampling on the area immediately northeast of the occurrence as the Tor claim.

In 1987, the area was prospected as the Snow Devil claims.

In 1989, Iota Explorations Ltd. completed a program of rock sampling and a 20.8 line-kilometres ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area immediately northeast of the occurrence as the Iota property.

In 1990, Geoffrey Goodall completed a program of rock and soil sampling on the area as the Lund claims.

In 2009, a program of prospecting and sampling was completed on the area by Julia Wang as the Iota property.

In 2014, Tech-X Resources Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and rock sampling on the area as the Augusta claims of the Nicola Lake property. The following year, a 12.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey was completed.
