The Tor (Massive Bornite) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1310 metres on a south-facing slope, south of Nicola Lake and approximately 6.5 kilometres east-northeast of Sugarloaf Mountain.

Regionally, the area is underlain by andesitic volcanic rocks of the Central Volcanic Facies of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group that have been intruded by Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic dioritic rocks.

Locally, massive bornite is exposed along a shear plane hosted in an epidote-altered andesite. Malachite staining is also reported. The shear plane varies in width from 1 to 20 centimetres over a strike length of approximately 8 metres along a trend of 024 degrees and dipping 48 degrees north.

Another zone of anomalous mineralization, referred to as the Two Duck Lake shear zone, is located approximately 1 kilometre southwest of the Massive Bornite zone and comprises minor chalcopyrite mineralization associated with argillic alteration and fuchsite in a linear breccia zone.

In 1987, a sample of massive bornite assayed 7.2 grams per tonne gold, 877.9 grams per tonne silver and 44.85 per cent copper (Property File - 884264).

In 1989, a select sample (89-IRC-019) from the Massive Bornite zone assayed 12.67 per cent copper, 306.0 grams per tonne silver and 2.80 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 18887).

In 2014, a float sample (7628) of volcanic hosting narrow veinlets with disseminated chalcopyrite, biotite and malachite along fractures, taken several hundred metres west of the Massive Bornite zone, yielded 0.357 gram per tonne gold, 39.4 grams per tonne silver and 1.76 per cent copper, whereas a grab sample (7623) of quartz-carbonate–epidote veinlets with blebs of chalcopyrite in a medium-grained intrusive from the Two Duck Lake shear zone area yielded 0.405 per cent copper (Assessment Report 35198).

Work History

In 1980, Kum Resources Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping and a 14.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Vic claim. Also at this time, Cominco Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping and a 20.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Payday claims.

In 1984, Futurtek Communications Inc. completed a program of soil sampling on the area as the Tor claim.

In 1986, Iota Explorations Ltd. completed a program of prospecting, geological mapping and sampling on the area as the Tor and G&G 1 claims. The following year, trenching and an 8.0 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey was completed.

In 1989, Iota Explorations Ltd. completed a program of rock sampling and a 20.8 line-kilometres ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the Iota property.
