The I.X.L. Fraction occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1590 metres, 2.2 kilometres east- northeast of Little O.K. Lake and southwest of the Highland Valley Copper (MINFILE 092ISW012) open-pit in the southwestern Highland Valley.

The area is underlain by early Jurassic–late Triassic Guichon Creek Batholith Bethsaida phase quartz diorites. Faulting and shearing are extensive, the strongest direction being 115 to 120 degrees with moderate to steep dips. Other fault directions are 055 to 060, 095 to 100, and 135 to 140 degrees. Intense sericite alteration and oxidation is associated with faulting.

Locally, a 3-metre-wide zone hosts at least three bands of massive chalcopyrite mineralization. The zone is highly sericitic altered. Minor disseminated chalcopyrite, bornite and molybdenite are reported at several localities on the P.R. 34 and 36 claims to the southeast.

In 1956, drilling is reported to have yielded 1.96 per cent copper in hole GD-13, 1.1 per cent copper in hole GD-20, 0.20 per cent copper in hole GD-19, less than 0.40 per cent copper in hole GD-14, less than 0.85 per cent copper in hole GD-15 and less than 0.25 per cent copper in GD-16 (Property File - Carr, J.M. [1956-12-01]: Claim and Workings Map - Shamrock). The lengths of the assayed sections were not reported.

In 1965, a drill hole (C-3) yielded intercepts of 0.4 per cent copper over 9.3 metres, 6.4 per cent copper over 0.45 metre and 1.4 per cent copper over 0.3 metre (Property File - Cominco Ltd. [1965-12-24]: C.G.'s, General Geology, D.D. Holes, Geophysics and Geochemistry Map - Bethsaida).

In 1966, a drill hole (C66-6) yielded up to 0.73 per cent copper over 34.5 metres (Property File - Cominco Ltd. [1967-12-21]: Plan of Diamond Drilling & Geology and Valley Copper IP Anomaly - Bethsaida).

The area was originally staked in the early 1900’s as the Tamarack and Osprey properties and been explored in conjunction with the Bethsaida (MINFILE 092ISW042) occurrence. During 1955 through 1958, Bethsaida Mines completed programs of ground geophysical surveys, soil sampling, trenching and drilling. In 1963, Buttle Lake Minerals examined and completed a program of geological mapping on the area as the Bethsaida property. During 1965 through 1968, Cominco Ltd. completed programs of geological mapping, geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys and diamond drilling on the area.
