Capsule Geology

The Genstar occurrence is located on the southern slopes of Meadow Creek, approximately 17 kilometres southeast of the community of Logan Lake.

The area is underlain by volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group that are cut by small granitic plugs and sills. Sparse outcroppings of Nicola Group rocks consist of altered andesite, lapilli tuff, amygdaloidal basalt and minor lenses of limy sediments that strike east to southeast and dip steeply to the north. Alteration assemblages include ubiquitous chlorite, epidote and local occurrences of quartz, sericite, biotite and potassium feldspar.

In 1993, a float sample (93G-28R) of pyritized andesite returned 0.409 per cent copper and 0.050 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 22992).

Work History

In 1972, Rio Sierra Developments Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling and a 31.4 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Ram 1-18 claims. Anomalous copper values, up to 1200 parts per million, were identified in soil samples (Assessment Report 4222).

During 1992 through 1994, programs of prospecting, geochemical (rock, soil and silt) sampling and a 4.4 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey were completed on the area as the Genstar and Genesis properties. Soil sampling yielded anomalous values of up to 964 parts per million copper and 110 parts per billion gold (Assessment Report 23362).

In 1995, Goldcliff Resource Ltd. staked the area as the S 1-48 claims and completed a program of prospecting and sampling. The following year, a program of geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling and ground electromagnetic and magnetic surveys were completed on the claims. In 1997, a program of trenching and eight rotary drill holes, totalling 545.6 metres, were completed on the claims.

In 2006, Goldcliff Resources Corp. completed a program of prospecting and geochemical (rock and silt) sampling on the area as the Plug property.
