The Sunshine (Zone 2) occurrence is located northeast of Tolman Lake and approximately 650 metres north- northeast of Zone 3 (MINFILE 092ISE129).

The Tolman Lake area is underlain by intermediate volcaniclastic and flow rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group. These are intruded by Lower Jurassic granitic batholiths several kilometres to the east and west. A strongly brecciated shear zone strikes 045 degrees and dips steeply to the northwest within Nicola Group andesite and is apparently continuous over a strike length of 2000 metres. This structure hosts three mineralized zones.

For 46 metres along the strike of the zone, four trenches expose brecciated andesitic tuffs mineralized with quartz, sphalerite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and galena. The quartz stringers and sulphides lie in two principal directions; one strikes east and dips 75 degrees north and the second strikes 045 degrees and dips 80 degrees southeast. The mineralized brecciated andesitic tuffs are cut by several unmineralized steep faults trending east and northwest.

In 1966, drilling highlights included 4.03 per cent zinc over 9.0 metres in hole no. 11 and 9.16 per cent zinc over 8.1 metres in hole no. 12 (Turner, J.A. (2013-03-14): Technical Report NI 43-101 for the Lucky Mike Copper-Tungsten Property).

Combined average assay results from diamond drilling, in 1980, were 0.157 per cent lead, 4.10 per cent zinc, 2.4 grams per tonne silver and 0.17 per cent copper over 3.25 metres; gold averaged less than 0.1 grams per tonne (Assessment Report 8036). Inferred reserves are 45,359 to 54,431 tonnes based on a width of 8 metres, length of 50 metres and depth of 30 metres (Assessment Report 6742).

In 1999, six samples (A990804-1 through -6) from a nearby trench (referred to as the Powerline trench) yielded valies from 0.03 to 0.14 gram per tonne gold, 2.5 to 20.6 grams per tonne silver, 0.02 to 1.79 per cent copper, 0.01 to 1.10 per cent lead and 0.48 to 23.30 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 26068).

In 2011, a grab sample (156679) assayed 1.117 per cent copper, 0.45 per cent lead, 17.24 per cent zinc, 18.8 grams per tonne silver and 0.218 gram per tonne gold (Turner, J.A. (2012-09-17): Technical Report NI 43-101 for the Lucky Mike Copper-Tungsten Property).

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the main Sunshine (Zone 3; MINFILE 092ISE129) occurrence and a completed property exploration history can be found there.
