Capsule Geology

The Sunshine (Zone 1) occurrence is located on the west side of Tolman Lake and approximately 650 metres southwest of the Sunshine - Zone 3 (MINFILE 092ISE129).

The Tolman Lake area is underlain by intermediate volcaniclastic and flow rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group which are intruded by Lower Jurassic granitic batholiths several kilometres to the east and west. A strongly brecciated shear zone strikes 045 degrees and dips steeply to the northwest and is apparently continuous over a strike length of 2000 metres. This structure hosts 3 zones of mineralization.

Open cuts expose a shear striking 085 degrees and dipping 65 degrees to the north within andesitic tuffs. The shear varies in width from 3 to 8 metres and contains steeply dipping quartz stringers which coalesce downward into a 30 to 60 centimetre wide vein. The vein is fractured and in places brecciated. The fractures are mineralized with sphalerite and minor galena.

In 1998, a rock sample (980703) from the Zone 1 occurrence area yielded 0.52 per cent copper, 1.47 per cent lead, 0.40 per cent zinc, 25.5 grams per tonne silver and 0.55 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 25854).

In 2011, a grab sample (156678) of dump material assayed 0.239 per cent copper, 0.89 per cent lead, 11.09 per cent zinc, 11.2 grams per tonne silver and 0.217 gram per tonne gold (Turner, J.A. (2012-09-17): Technical Report NI 43-101 for the Lucky Mike Copper-Tungsten Property).

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the main Sunshine (Zone 3; MINFILE 092ISE129) occurrence and a completed property exploration history can be found there.
