Capsule Geology

The Rye occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1200 metres on a generally west-facing slope, east of Guichon Creek and approximately 8 kilometres north-northwest of the community of Merritt.

The area lies near the intrusive contact of the Lower Jurassic Guichon Creek Batholith with the Upper Triassic Nicola Group. Locally, quartz monzonite similar to Guichon Creek intrusive rocks intrudes Nicola Group greenstone and andesite.

Both the plutonic and volcanic rocks are fractured and mineralized with magnetite, pyrite, hematite, chalcopyrite, bornite, malachite and azurite.

At least two diamond drill holes and three trenches are reported to have been completed on the area. These are reported to have intersected a sheared and faulted pyritized greenstone adjacent to a diorite contact between 180 and 210 metres depth.

In 1976, a sample from the Rye occurrence area yielded 0.19 per cent zinc (Property File -10176).

Another zone of mineralization, referred to as the SB North zone is located approximately 1.1 kilometres northeast of the Rye occurrence and comprises a potassic-, argillic- and phyllic-altered monzonite hosting chalcopyrite and molybdenite.

In 2012, drilling on the SB North zone yielded intercepts including 0.218 per cent copper over 3.07 metres in hole JC-2012-002; 0.205 per cent copper over 3.99 metres, 0.669 gram per tonne gold over 1.74 metres, 0.165 gram per tonne gold over 4.64 metres and 0.263 gram per tonne gold over 5.26 metres in hole JC-2012-003 and 0.572 per cent copper over 1.43 metres in hole JC-2012-004 (Assessment Report 33910).

Work History

The area has been explored since the early 1900s.

During 1962 through 1976, a variety of individuals and companies held mining claims and explored the Jesse Creek area, mainly for copper-magnetite skarn mineralization similar to that at Craigmont Mine. Exploration work at this time usually included soil sampling, trenching and magnetometer surveying.

In 2012, Dundarave Resources Inc. retained Minorex Consulting Ltd. to carry out a property examination on the Jesse Creek property. A 1050.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey and 68.6 line-kilometre induced polarization survey were completed at this time.

In 2013, Ocean Park Ventures Corp., on the behalf of Dundarave Resources Inc., completed seven diamond drill holes, totalling 2043.0 metres, on the Jesse Creek property.

In 2016, Wealth Minerals Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling on the Jesse Creek property. The following year, a program of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, geological photo-interpretation, a 24.2 line-kilometre induced polarization survey and 18 diamond drill holes, totalling 4478.9 metres, were completed on the property.
