The Bornite Ridge (Jericho 3) occurrence is located immediately southwest of the Highmont tailings dam and approximately 3.5 kilometres east of the Gnawed Mountain.

The area is located on the eastern flank of the Lower Jurassic Guichon Creek Batholith and is underlain by fine- to medium-grained, hornblende-rich granodiorite designated as the Chataway variety of the Highland Valley phase of the batholith. Regional faults trend north.

Near Bornite Ridge the rocks contain chloritized mafic minerals and incipient sericite alteration of plagioclase. Some fractures have potassium feldspar-epidote stringers along them, some have coarsely crystalline secondary potassium feldspar with or without quartz and resemble pegmatite dikes and others are coated by quartz-epidote or chlorite with some bornite. Alteration increases in intensity near quartz veining.

Locally, a set of mineralized quartz veins are hosted within a limonitic, northeast trending, 3-metre wide shear zone that has be traced for approximately 60 metres. Veins are branching, narrow and pinch and swell to up to 20 centimetres in width. The two sets of veins strike approximately 015 and 065 degrees, with gentle, northwest dips of 15 to 25 degrees. Bornite with some chalcopyrite, chalcocite and tetrahedrite fill vugs in the quartz veins. Malachite stains fractures in the veins. Non-mineralized veins have narrow potassium feldspar, sericitic, epidote, chlorite and sericite alteration envelopes.

In 1979, a diamond drill hole (BR-3) yielded 0.235 per cent copper over 1.5 metres (Assessment Report 7277).

In 1966, Canadian Superior Exploration Ltd. and Jericho Mines Ltd. completed a program of silt and soil sampling, geological mapping, trenching and a 57.6 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the area. In 1969, Tremar Mines completed a 50.5 line-kilometre induced polarization survey. In 1979, Highmont Mining Corp. and New Jericho Mines Ltd. completed three diamond drill holes, totalling 61 metres. Later the same year, Highmont Operating Corp. completed a drilling program including 2 churn drill holes, totalling 174.0 metres, 11 percussion drill holes, totalling 165.0 metres, 2 rotary drill holes, totalling 134.0 metres, and 5 diamond drill holes, totalling 504.0 metres, on the Gaza and Jericho claims.
