The Homestead occurrence is located on the west side of Anderson Creek, approximately 2 kilometres northwest of the northern end of Shumway Lake.

Regionally, the area is underlain by slate, greywacke, volcaniclastics, alkalic basalt, and volcanic tuff of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group which have been intruded by dioritic rocks of the late Triassic to early Jurassic Iron Mask Batholith to the west and granodioritic rocks of the Jurassic Wild Horse Batholith to the east. A body of Late Triassic to Early Jurassic ultramafic rocks is also exposed to the southwest. The sedimentary and volcanic rocks have been weakly metamorphosed to lower greenschist facies and locally have been intruded by felsic leucocratic dikes or sills.

Locally, slate, sandstone and greywacke associated with gently west-dipping faults host narrow, 1- to 2-centimetre wide, pyrite- and arsenopyrite-bearing quartz carbonate veins. Alteration minerals include chlorite, limonite, sericite, jarosite, carbonate and hematite.

In 2006, sampling of trenches 1 and 2 yielded up to 2.07 grams per tonne gold and 64.6 grams per tonne silver with an average of 0.52 gram per tonne gold over 6 metres near the junction of trenches 1 and 2 and 1.00 gram per tonne gold over 5 metres near the southern end of trench 2 (Assessment Report 30154).

In 2016, diamond drilling intercepted mineralized and sericite-altered siltstones and greywackes yielding up to 0.25 gram per tonne gold over 22.47 metres with a separate section yielding 0.31 gram per tonne over 16 metres in hole HS-16-002 (Assessment Report 36453).

An adit of unknown age is reported in the area. In 1972, Command Resources Ltd. completed a soil sampling program on the area as the Sugi and MB claims. During 2006 through 2008, J. Mikulasik completed programs of soil and rock sampling and trenching on the area as the Homestead property. In 2016, Little Nicholas Mining Corp. completed five diamond drill holes, totalling 786.3 metres, on the area as the St. Patrick claim.
