The Prospect 7 occurrence is located on a west- facing slope at an elevation of approximately 870 metres on the eastern tributary of Hunter Creek, approximately 5.5 kilometres southeast of the creek mouth on the Fraser River.
The area is underlain by a large body of quartz diorite of the Cretaceous Spuzzum pluton, near its contact with and intrusion of younger Oligocene quartz diorite and granodiorite.
Locally, a talcose-chloritic fracture zone hosts quartz veins with gold and silver values. In 1983, two samples (835 and 836) assayed 0.37 and 0.25 gram per tonne gold with 9.5 and 11.2 grams per tonne silver, respectively (Assessment Report 11656). During the same year, diamond drilling on the zone encountered a 10.3 metre section of extreme chloritic alteration at the end of hole no. 2. It was recommended that the core was assayed at this time but this was never done.
The area has been historically explored in conjunction with the nearby Aufeas (MINFILE 092HSW036) occurrence. In 1982, the area was prospected as part of the June Extension claim. In 1983, a program of prospecting, soil sampling and five diamond drill holes, totalling 120.09 metres, were completed on the area as the Hunter Group.
