Capsule Geology

The Pen 7 occurrence is located north of Brenda Lake, on a west-facing slope at an elevation of approximately 1750 metres.

The area is underlain by mudstone, siltstone and fine clastic sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group that have been intruded by Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic granodioritic rocks of the Pennask Batholith.

Locally, on the former Pen 7 claim, a graphitic shale and argillite host a shear zone with shattered quartz veins and clay altered wallrock. Limonite is also reported. An area of extensive trenching is reported approximately 1.2 kilometres northwest of the previous zone on the former Pen 3 and Slim 13 claims.

In 1991, a float sample (PEN91-R30) of pyritic quartz vein material from the historical trenched area yielded 5.95 grams per tonne gold and 15.1 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 22304).

In 1994, a float sample (PEN94-R1) of limonite- and hematite-altered quartz vein fragments from the historical trenched area yielded 1.53 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 23919).

In 1996, a 0.20 metre channel sample from the occurrence yielded 1.07 grams per tonne gold and 44.6 grams per tonne silver, whereas selected chips (sample P96-R9) of quartz-flooded argillite rubble near a rhyolite contact hosting disseminated pyrite and minor galena, located on the Pen 3 claim in the area of the historical trenches, yielded 2.49 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 25043).

In 2011, a float sample (JRNB11-R10) of pyritic quartz veinlets cutting a black argillite located close to a greater than 1-metre wide felsite dike from the historical trenched area assayed 0.95 gram per tonne gold and 4.3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 32788).

Work History

The area was originally explored in the 1960s for copper-molybdenum mineralization similar to that of the Brenda (MINFILE 092HNE047) deposit to the east. Historical trenches are reported in the area and likely date to this time.

During 1986 through 1990, Fairfield Minerals Ltd. completed prospecting in the area and subsequently staked the claims in 1990. During 1991 through 1996, Fairfield Minerals Ltd. conducted programs of prospecting, geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling and minor trenching on the area as the Pen claims.

During 2006 through 2012, Bitterroot Resources completed programs of rock, silt and soil sampling, geological mapping, trenching, 147.6 line-kilometres of ground magnetic surveys and a 66.2 line-kilometre ground induced polarization survey on the area as the North Brenda property.

In 2016, Gorilla Minerals Corp. completed a soil and rock sampling program on the area as the New Brenda property. In 2018, Flow Metals Corp. completed a program of geological mapping, spectral and structural analysis and rock sampling on the New Brenda property. The following year, a program of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, structural analysis and minor trenching was completed on the property.
