The Issitz occurrence is located on steep cliffs west of Wolfe Creek, between Issitz and Jackson lakes.
The area is underlain by granodiorite of the Early Jurassic Bromley Batholith.
Locally, alteration zones along the contact between granodiorite or granite and andesite (diabase) dikes hosts gold values. The alteration zones are highly oxidized and contain vugs with pyrite and quartz.
