Capsule Geology

The King occurrence is located along a logging roadcut, approximately 1.5 kilometres southeast of the Coquihalla Highway (Okanagan Connector), 4.0 kilometres northeast of Culmination Point and 3.5 kilometres west-southwest of the summit of Pennask Mountain.

The area is underlain by fine clastic sedimentary rocks and basaltic volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group, which have been intruded by granodioritic rocks of the Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic Pennask Batholith and granitic rocks of the Middle Jurassic Osprey Lake Batholith.

Locally, a quartz vein, 1 centimetre wide, cuts bleached, pyritic andesitic ash tuff of the Upper Triassic Whistle Creek Formation (Nicola Group).

In 1989, a sample (L89-R1D) of selected chips from the vein analyzed 0.68 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 21922). Also at this time, two float samples (Q20-R2 and -R6) of angular quartz fragments, located approximately 1 kilometre west-southwest of the occurrence yielded up to 0.82 gram per tonne gold and 122.1 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21922).

In 2020, a chip sample (440699) from a quartz-carbonate vein with pyrite and trace arsenopyrite, located approximately 1.4 kilometres south of the King occurrence, yielded 0.06 gram per tonne gold and 17.8 grams per tonne silver over 0.3 metre (Assessment Report 39224). The vein strikes 098 degrees and dips vertically.

Work History

During 1986 through 1990, Fairfield Minerals Ltd. completed programs of prospecting and geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling on the area immediately south of the occurrence as the Sunset 1-8 claims. In 1991, Kingsvale Resources Inc. completed a program of prospecting and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as the King property.

In 2010, Bitterroot Resources Ltd. completed a 52.7-line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Queen occurrence.

In 2016, Victory Resources Corp. completed a photogeological (lineament) interpretation study and 5.4-line-kilometres of ground magnetic surveys on the area as the Toni property.

In 2019 and 2020, Rio Minerals Ltd. completed programs of prospecting and geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling on the area as the King property.
