Capsule Geology

The Josee occurrence is located approximately 2.4 kilometres north-northeast of the north end of Missezula Lake.

The area is underlain by basaltic volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group (Eastern Volcanic Facies), which have been intruded by Upper Triassic to Lower Jurassic granodioritic rocks.

Locally, chalcocite occurs in a sequence of massive to crudely layered lahar deposits and volcanic conglomerate.

In 1985, a rock sample (2251) from a historical trench in the approximate area of the occurrence yielded 0.606 per cent copper and 2.9 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 14141).

In 2013, a rock sample (RRIKN-13-009) of crystal lithic tuff with cross-cutting calcite veinlets and local copper oxides from the Josee occurrence area yielded 1.157 per cent copper, whereas a sample (RRIKN-13-010) of volcanics with epidote-calcite veinlets and localized copper oxides, located several hundred metres to the south of the previous sample, yielded 0.473 per cent copper and 6.3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 34569). Also at this time, a sample (RRIKN-13-007) of sheared volcanics hosting local secondary copper minerals, located approximately 1.8 kilometres southwest of the occurrence, yielded 0.191 per cent copper (Assessment Report 34569).

Work History

In 1973, Great Plains Development Company of Canada Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling and a 12.7 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area as the Doe group of claims.

In 1983 and 1984, J.M. Murphy completed programs of geological mapping and soil sampling on the area as the Josee 2 claim. In 1985, Vanco Explorations Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as the Thor 8 claim.

In 2011, Moag Copper Gold Resources Inc. completed a program of soil sampling on the area as part of the Ketchan property. In 2013, Riverside Resources Inc. completed a program of prospecting and rock sampling on the area as the Josee property. Also at this time, Victory Resources Ltd. completed a program of photogeological (lineament) analysis on the area immediately east of the occurrence as the Toni and Tom Cat properties.

In 2016, Victory Resources Ltd. completed a program of photogeological (lineament) analysis and 4.5 line-kilometres of ground magnetic surveys on the area as the Toni property.
