The MATRIX Marble quarry is situated south of Deserted Lake and east of the head of Hisnit Inlet, approximately 33 kilometres west of Gold River. It is accessed by forestry roads off the Head Bay FSR between Gold River and Tahsis.

The quarry has been in operation prior to 2012 and is operated by Matrix Marble and Stone Inc., who also operate a quarry north of Tahsis (MINFILE TAHSIS INLET 092E 070). MATRIX is one of the several marble showings / quarries in the Tlupana-Hisnit Inlet area, including the Nootka Quarry, the CAL A prospect, the CAL B showing, the Century Limestone showing and the Tlupana Arm magnesite showing. The Triassic Quatsino Limestone Formation on the property is situated north of an Eocene Quartz Diorite Stock situated in the south of the peninsula between Hisnit Inlet and Tlupana Inlet (Head Bay).
