The Tah 15 North West occurrence is located on steep northeast facing slopes in the head waters of the Sucwoa River, at an elevation of approximately 700 metres.
The area is underlain by Upper Triassic Vancouver Group volcanics and sediments comprised of Karmutsen Formation basalts and carbonates and clastics of the Quatsino and Parson Bay formations. Granodiorite of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite and Eocene Catface or Mount Washington Intrusions has intruded the Vancouver Group rocks.
Locally, a pod a nearly massive sulphides, 10 centimetres wide and 20 centimetres long, is hosted by massive limestone. Sulphide mineralization consists of chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite. Pods of diopside and garnet are also noted. In 1984, rock sampling yielded up to 1.44 grams per tonne gold, 26 grams per tonne silver, 2.58 per cent copper and 0.079 per cent zinc (sample 3691; Assessment Report 13681).
During 1979 through 1981, Pan Ocean Oil completed programs of geological mapping and geochemical sampling on the area as the Tah 1-19 claims. In 1983, Aberford Resources continued the previous mapping and sampling programs. In 1984, Homestake Canada completed a program of geological mapping and rock sampling. In 2007, Grande Portage Resources completed a regional geochemical program on the area as the Cherry property. In 2011, Gold Ridge Exploration completed a regional geochemical sampling program on the Tahsis property.
