The June Beach occurrence is located on the north side of the mouth of June Creek, approximately 800 metres northwest of the Burman River mouth.
The Muchalat Batholith of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite intrudes volcanics of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group). The volcanic rocks have been amphibole and hornfels altered near the contact, overprinting regional zeolite facies metamorphism.
Locally, a strong shear zone, striking north 85 degrees and dipping 75 degrees south is exposed by an former open-cut. The shear has an over-all width of 1.2 metres with the strongest shearing over a 0.1 metre width close to the hanging wall. Mineralization consists of massive pyrite and sphalerite with minor quartz. Sampling of a muck pile assayed up to 1.4 grams per tonne gold, 6.9 grams per tonne silver and 17.2 per cent zinc, while a 0.6 metre sample of the shear zone assayed 5.8 per cent zinc (Ministry of Energy and Mines Annual Report 1946-179).
Another zone of massive sulphides is reported near the boat landing on the south side of June Creek. In 1986, a grab sample assayed 0.69 gram per tonne gold, 13.7 grams per tonne silver, 0.05 per cent copper, 0.17 per cent lead and 0.03 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 14981).
The area was originally staked as the June group (MINFILE 092E 018) in 1939 and later the same year sold to Burman River Gold Mines. In 1968, the area was staked and explored as the Cu group. In 1977, Adola Mining completed a program of geological mapping, soil sampling and a ground magnetometer survey on the area as the Adola claims. In 1986, Adola completed another program of soil sampling and ground geophysical surveys on the area.
