The K 11-12 occurrences are exposed from the shoreline facing Mate Island and for at least 600 metres inland.
The area is underlain by high-grade metamorphic volcanic rocks of the Paleozoic- Mesozoic Westcoast Complex (Geological Survey of Canada, Map 1537A). These have been intruded by diorite of the Eocene Catface Intrusions.
Locally, scattered outcrops of micro-diorite and gneissic diorite host chalcopyrite and magnetite mineralization. Grab samples of the outcrops yielded values from 0.011 to 0.098 per cent copper (Assessment Report 3750).
In 1972, Florex Mining completed a program of geological mapping, rock and soil sampling and a ground magnetic survey on the area as the K claims.
