The K 15 occurrence is located near the shoreline, west of Refuge Cove and approximately 2.7 kilometres north west of Sharp Point.

The area is underlain by quartzite and high grade metamorphic volcanic rocks of the Paleozoic- Mesozoic Westcoast Complex (Geological Survey of Canada, Map 1537A). These have been intruded by diorite of the Eocene Catface Intrusions.

Locally, the quartzite, which may be silicified andesite, contains a 6 metre wide northeast trending, steeply east dipping shear zone. Sphalerite, with unspecified skarn minerals, occur over 1.5 metres within the shear zone. A representative sample taken over 1.5 metres assayed 5.0 per cent zinc and 0.66 grams per tonne silver. A sample of high grade mineralization assayed 10.0 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 3750).

In 1972, Florex Mining completed a program of geological mapping, rock and soil sampling and a ground magnetic survey on the area as the K claims.
