The Mont 1 occurrence is located east of Black Lake, approximately 7 kilometres southwest of the community of Bamfield.

The area is underlain by metamorphic rocks of the Paleozoic and/or Mesozoic Westcoast Complex and granite of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite. The bedrock is overlain by massive to coarsely- bedded bouldery glacial till.

Locally, a near vertical quartz vein hosts minor pyrite and chalcopyrite.

In 1993 and 1994, the Mont 1 and 2 claims (Mu Group) were prospected by P. Demontigny.
