The New World Slate occurrence is located on a ridge approximately half way between Bavis and Red creeks.

The area is underlain by metasediments of the Jurassic-Cretaceous Leech River Formation.

The occurrence consists of 4 borrow pits adjacent to the Mosquito Main and adjacent spur roads. The pits all expose slate. No particulars of the characteristics of the stone are available.

The area was prospected as the Bruni claims in 2004.
