The Uke occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1270 metres on an east-trending ridge, south of Mable Creek and approximately 3.5 kilometres north-northwest of the west end of North Barriere Lake.
Regionally, the area is underlain by the Graffunder Lakes, Skwaam Bay and Slate Creek units of the upper Paleozoic to lower Cambrian Eagle Bay Assemblage, which consist of micaceous quartzite, sericite-quartz schist, mudstone, siltstone, shale and calc-alkaline volcanic rocks. Local foliation strikes 135 degrees with a 5-degree northeast dip. The Cretaceous Baldy Batholith, consisting of quartz monzonitic intrusive rocks, lies to the north.
Locally, a stratiform massive sulphide lens, 2 by 10 metres in size, of base metal (pyrrhotite-galena-sphalerite-chalcopyrite?) mineralization is hosted within a brecciated and silicified argillite horizon enclosed by chlorite-silica-sericite–altered dacite tuffs. The lens plunges gently (23 degrees) to the southwest (250 degrees).
In 1987, channel sampling is reported to have yielded up to 0.62 per cent copper, 5.27 per cent lead, 4.15 per cent zinc, 35 grams per tonne silver and 1.0 gram per tonne gold over 2.0 metres (Assessment Report 19363).
In 1989, a rock sample (VA12260) assayed 0.24 gram per tonne gold, 26.4 grams per tonne silver, 0.660 per cent copper, 4.33 per cent lead, 15.00 per cent zinc, 0.056 per cent cadmium, 0.555 per cent rubidium, 0.021 per cent gallium and 0.010 per cent tellurium (Assessment Report 19363).
In 1990, a rock sample (VA12377) from a narrow massive sulphide band exposed in trench FLTR90-02 yielded 0.112 per cent copper, 1.64 per cent lead, 0.60 per cent zinc and 10.5 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21208).
Work History
The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Percy (MINFILE 082M 219) occurrence and a completed exploration history can be found there. During 1985 through 1987, Noranda Mining and Exploration Inc. completed programs of trenching and diamond drilling on the occurrence. No records of the drillholes performed on the occurrence are known.
During 1989 through 1991, Falconbridge Ltd. completed programs of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, geological mapping, 97.7 line-kilometres of combined ground magnetic, electromagnetic and induced polarization surveys, trenching and at least nine diamond drill holes, totalling 2619.2 metres, on the Bluff, Bet, Mac, Raven, Rust and Percy claims.
During 2005 through 2013, the area was prospected and (rock, silt and soil) sampled as the Stellar claims.
