The Bay 7 (D zone-JB) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1440 metres on a north-northeast–facing slope, approximately 3.5 kilometres north of the mouth of Sinmax Creek on Adams Lake.

Regionally, the area is underlain by limestone, marble, calcareous sedimentary rocks, and greenschist metamorphic rocks of the Lower Cambrian Eagle Bay Assemblage. Bedding strikes approximately 130 degrees and dips 20 to 30 degrees northeast.

Locally, a northeast-dipping zone of bleaching, silicification and dolomitization, 100 to 130 metres wide and at least 700 metres long, occurs in lapilli tuff, tuff breccia and ash tuff with quartz-dolomite±tourmaline veins and veinlets hosting variable amounts of pyrite, sphalerite, galena, and chalcopyrite.

Within this zone is the JB vein, which comprises an irregular 0.10-metre-wide quartz-carbonate vein with a 2-centimetre wide massive sulphide band. Sulphide composition is approximately 75 per cent pyrite, 20 per cent galena, 5 per cent chalcopyrite and trace sphalerite. The vein strikes 325 degrees and dips 45 degrees.

In 1988, trenching on the main JB zone yielded 0.750 per cent lead and 0.186 per cent zinc over 10 metres in trench TR88-40B, 0.35 per cent lead and 0.22 per cent zinc over 10 metres in trench TR88-39 and 0.077 per cent zinc over 130 metres in trench TR88-40+40, whereas trench TR88-43, located approximately 300 metres to the northwest, yielded 0.167 per cent zinc, 0.023 per cent copper and 0.049 per cent lead over 12 metres (Assessment Report 19187 and Property File - Beekmann, J. [1988-07-10]: 1988 Mapping and Trenching Report Bay Property). Also at this time, a sample from the JB vein assayed 0.197 per cent copper, 4.02 per cent lead and 2.77 per cent zinc over 3 centimetres (Property File - Beekmann, J. [1988-07-10]: 1988 Mapping and Trenching Report Bay Property).

In 1989, drillholes BA89-4 and -5, located on the area previously trenched, yielded up to 0.195 and 0.320 per cent lead with 0.187 and 0.260 per cent zinc over 1.0 metre, respectively (Assessment Report 19187). Also at this time, two drillholes, located approximately 300 metres to the northwest, yielded 0.17 per cent zinc over 16.8 metres (hole BA89-6) and 0.32 per cent zinc over 5.0 metres (hole BA89-7; Assessment Report 19187). Drillhole BA89-7 also contained a 0.43-metre interval of disseminated sphalerite in a mafic ash tuff that yielded 0.39 per cent zinc over 1.0 metre (Assessment Report 19187).

Work History

In 1977 and 1978, Cominco completed programs of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and a 7.6 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the area as the Bay claims.

During 1982 through 1984, Westmin Resources Ltd. completed ground magnetic, electromagnetic and induced polarization surveys and two diamond drill holes, totalling 102.9 metres, on the Bay claims.

In 1987, Kidd Creek Mines Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping and a 70.0 line-kilometre combined ground electromagnetic and magnetic survey on the Bay claims. The following year, 15 trenches, totalling 3480 metres, were completed on the Bay claims.

In 1989, Falconbridge Ltd. completed nine diamond drill holes, totalling 1333.4 metres, on the Bay 7 claim.

In 1999, Eagle Plains Resources staked the Acacia property on the area. The following year, a program of rock, silt, and soil sampling was completed. In 2005, Amarc Resources Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping and lithogeochemical sampling on the area as the Sin 1-12 claims of the Max property.

During 2007 through 2012, Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping and geochemical (rock, silt, and soil) sampling and 738 line-kilometres of magnetic and radiometric surveys on the area as part of the Acacia property. In 2017, a further program of rock and soil sampling was completed on the property.
