Capsule Geology

The Siwash 3 (A zone) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1580 metres on a northeast-sloping plateau separating Bouleau and Naswhito creeks, approximately 23 kilometres west of Vernon.

Regionally the area is underlain by volcanics, mudstone, siltstone, shale and fine clastic sedimentary rocks of the Devonian to Triassic Harper Ranch and(?) Nicola groups, which are intruded by Middle Jurassic granitic rocks. Volcanic rocks of the Eocene Penticton and Kamloops groups overlie the older units.

Locally, a trachytic tuff-breccia paleochannel deposit is in fault contact with trachyandesite flows and hosts a large alteration zone with silica flooding, chalcedonic quartz stockworks and hematitic and goethite staining predominating within the tuffaceous rocks. Minor, very fine grained pyrite and occasional amethyst with associated gold and silver values occurs in drusy quartz veinlets. The alteration zone is approximately 3000 by 750 by 150 metres with three (A, B and C) mineralized zones being identified. The B and C zones are located approximately 600 and 1900 metres north-northeast of the A zone.

In 1989, a grab sample (355418) of porphyritic basalt containing drusy quartz veinlets from the main (A) zone yielded 5.55 grams per tonne gold and 16.6 grams per tonne silver, whereas samples (399780 and 80484) from the B and C zones assayed 0.32 and 0.20 gram per tonne gold with 2.7 and 12.4 grams per tonne silver, respectively (Assessment Report 19100).

In 1984, Golden Porphyrite Ltd. completed a program of prospecting; geological mapping and rock, silt and soil sampling on the area as the Nash 1-4 claims. In 1985, Chevron Canada Resources Ltd. prospected and soil sampled the area as the Vodd 1-8 claims.

During 1988 through 1994, Prosperity Gold Corporation completed programs of geological mapping; rock, soil and heavy mineral sampling and an 80.6 line-kilometre combined ground magnetic and electromagnetic (VLF-EM) survey on the area as the Nash property.

During 2012 through 2018, North Bay Resources Inc. and later Billiken Resources Ltd. conducted programs of heavy mineral sampling on the area.
