The Mac-03 (Caron) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1300 metres on a west-northwest–facing slope, east of McIntyre Creek and approximately 2.3 kilometres south-southwest of the south end of McIntyre Lake.
The area is underlain by massive granodiorite of the Jurassic Nelson Intrusions, intruded by a variety of volcanic feeder dikes.
Locally, a ‘high’-temperature, barren-looking quartz vein in a zone of quartz flooding at the contact between granitic rocks to the north and a basaltic dike to the south hosts gold values. Patchy fine-grained semi-massive pyrite is localized along the contact zone.
Work History
The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Top (MINFILE 082LSE017) occurrence and a complete regional exploration history can be found there.
In 2007, TMBW International Resources Corp. completed a minor program of prospecting and geochemical (rock and silt) sampling on the Mac property. A grab sample (Mac 03-2007) from the occurrence assayed 4.37 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 29324).
In 2017, Nation Gold Corp. completed a program of prospecting, minor rock sampling and a 324.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Top property. A sample (T1) from the vein yielded 0.15 gram per tonne gold, whereas a re-sample of the original 2007 sample (Mac 03-2007) assayed 15.67 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 37577).
