Capsule Geology

The Donna (Gossan) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1680 metres on a southwest-facing slope of Monashee Mountain, approximately 15.3 kilometres southeast of the community of Cherryville.

The area is underlain by a metamorphosed, polydeformed sequence of metasediments and tuffaceous rocks of the Devonian to Triassic Harper Ranch Group. These predominantly comprise varieties of black, intensely cleaved argillite and dark grey to grey siliceous phyllite and intermixed felsic volcanics that are intruded by small stocks and plugs of diorite and quartz diorite of the Jurassic Nelson Intrusions.

Locally, as defined by diamond drilling, a clay-altered granodiorite-diorite porphyry intrusion is in contact with argillite, dacite and limestone. The granodiorite–quartz diorite intrusive hosts a sheared quartz-calcite-sulphide vein and stringer stockwork zone with associated gold values.

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Donna (MINFILE 082LSE016) occurrence and a complete regional exploration history can be found there.

In 2019, Pinnacle North Gold Corp. completed a single, 331.2-metre-deep drillhole (DO19001) targeting the Gossan grid, which comprises a greater than 500 metre long gold-arsenic soil anomaly. The best mineralization in drillhole DO19001 yielded 9.4 grams per tonne gold over 1.5 metres (134.0 to 135.5 metres down hole; Kenwood, S. [2019-11-30]: NI 43-101 Technical Report, Donna Property).
