Capsule Geology

The Donna West occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1700 metres on an east-northeast–trending ridge of Monashee Mountain, approximately 4.8 kilometres west of the west end of Keefer Lake.

The area is underlain by a metamorphosed, polydeformed sequence of metasediments and tuffaceous rocks of the Devonian to Triassic Harper Ranch Group. These predominantly comprise varieties of black, intensely cleaved argillite and dark grey to grey siliceous phyllite and intermixed felsic volcanics that are intruded by small stocks and plugs of diorite and quartz diorite of the Jurassic Nelson Intrusions.

Locally, as defined by diamond drilling, a diorite-argillite contact hosts quartz veins and semi-massive sulphide mineralization.

In 2014, drillhole 14-021 yielded 8.72 grams per tonne gold over 2.0 metres (69.0 to 71.0 metres down hole; Assessment Report 35478). The interval included 0.2 metre of semi-massive sulphides (pyrite-arsenopyrite) at the contact of diorite and argillite sediments.

Work History

The area has been explored in conjunction with the nearby Donna (MINFILE 082LSE016) occurrence and a complete regional exploration history can be found there.

In 2014, Alpha Exploration completed a 11.1 line-kilometre induced polarization survey and four diamond drillholes, totalling 492 metres, west of the area of historical trenching on the Donna (MINFILE 082LSE016) occurrence. Holes were targeted using chargeability highs and structures outlined in the induced polarization geophysical survey.

In 2017, Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. completed a program of soil sampling and a 470 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Donna property. The following year, Pinnacle North Gold Corp. completed a minor program of soil and rock sampling on the property.
