Diatomaceous earth occurs along the flats and bench lands on the east side of the Lardeau River. The beds are up to 2 metres thick and occur over an area of 1.6 by 0.8 kilometres. The material is fine-grained, coherant, grey-white to cream-coloured, and light weight.
