The Staubert Trench showing area is underlain by northwest striking Cambrian to Devonian Lardeau Group metasediments flanked by younger sediments of the Upper Mississippian to Permian Milford Formation. Phyllites of the Lardeau Group are the predominant lithology.

Old trenching was done (pre-1979) on a large white quartz vein or pod measuring 7 to 10 metres wide. Limonite after pyrite and possibly dolomite/ankerite is present. Sporadic streaks of minor pyrite, galena and sphalerite are present in a few broken rocks scattered about the trench. Hostrock is unaltered grey phyllite.

In May 1979 the claims were optioned by AMAX of Canada Ltd. from JOA Resources Ltd. AMAX conducted geological mapping and soil and stream sediment sampling during the period June to August, 1979.
