The Mammoth (Gossan) occurrence is located on a north western ridge of Mount Goldsmith, at an elevation of approximately 2020 metres.
The area is underlain by chloritic schist or phyllites and limestones of the Cambrian to Devonian Index Formation (Lardeau Group).
Locally, calcite, siliceous and iron-rich marbles host a 10 metre wide zone of strong limonitic alteration with galena mineralization.
In 2006, and 2007, assessment work was completed on the property by Discovery Consultants, R. I. Thompson for Silver Phoenix Resources Inc. including mapping and sampling the area.
In 2007, a grab sample assayed 6.4 grams per tonne silver and greater than 1 per cent lead (Assessment Report 29602).
The area has been historically explored in conjunction with the Big Showing (MINFILE 082KNW078), Mammoth (MINFILE 082KNW077) and Scout (MINFILE 082KNW139) occurrences. During 2005 through 2012, Silver Phoenix Resources completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping, rock sampling and airborne geophysical surveys on the area.
