Capsule Geology

The Fran North occurrence is located on the northwest side of a small creek flowing south into Hiawatha Lake, approximately 1.0 kilometre northwest of the creek mouth on the lake.

The area lies within the central portion of the Purcell Anticlinorium, which consists of argillites, quartzites and related intruded gabbro sills and dikes of the Helikian Aldridge Formation (Purcell Supergroup).

In 2004, Kondike Gold completed a lone drillhole, totalling 974 metres. Drillhole (F04-1) intercepted typical Middle Aldridge Formation stratigraphy to a depth of 900 metres with minor disseminated pyrrhotite and occasional quartz veins with sphalerite, galena, pyrrhotite and pyrite. The “Sullivan horizon” was intercepted from 900 to 929 metres and contained laminated and disseminated sulphides, primarily pyrrhotite. Significant intercepts include: 0.016 per cent lead and 0.076 per cent zinc over 5.0 metres, including 1.05 metres assaying 0.054 per cent lead and 0.177 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 27808).

In 2013/2014, PJX Resources Inc began a large program of gravity and magnetic geophysical surveying to detect dense subsurface features (Assessment Report 34937); surveying continued into 2016 (Assessment Reports 34082, 34937, 35416, 36347). The gravity survey extended 10 kilometres beyond the West Basin property claim boundaries encompassing several MINFILE occurrences including the Fran North (Figure 8, Assessment Report 34082).

The area has been previously explored in conjunction with the nearby Fran (082GSW069) and Vine 1 (082GSW050) occurrences. Refer to the Vine 1 developed prospect (082GSW050) for related geological and work history details.
