The Wutluk occurrence is located at near the headwaters of Twentynine Mile Creek, approximately 30 kilometres southeast of the community of Elko.
The Wutluk area is underlain by undivided sedimentary rocks of the Mesoproterozoic Purcell Supergroup. These rocks are intruded by a syenitic to monzonitic stock of Cretaceous age. In 1983 and 1984, prospecting and sampling by Cominco Ltd. occurred on two south-flowing tributaries of Wutluk Creek. Rocks mapped by explorationists in the area of the mineralization include altered, fractured and brecciated syenite, altered and hornfels sedimentary rocks and dolomite. A northwest-trending thrust-fault trends along or parallel to Twenty-nine Mile and Wutluk creeks. Mineralization at or near the Wutluk area included fluorite, galena, and chalcopyrite (Assessment Report 13242, Sheet 1, Plate 3).
A 1983, sample (M159) from the westernmost tributary assayed 1.21 grams per tonne gold, 30.0 grams per tonne silver, 0.88 per cent lead, and 0.162 per cent copper (Assessment Report 11787).
