The Pine occurrence is located approximately 4 kilometres northeast of Wycliffe and 12 kilometres north of Cranbrook.

Regionally, the area is underlain by Proterozoic and Cambrian sediments of the Purcell Supergroup that have been intruded by Cretaceous, granodioritic, intrusive rocks.

Locally, as identified by drilling and geological mapping, lower-middle Cambrian Eager Formation mudstones, siltstones, argillites and limestone and calc-silicate breccias have been intruded by several small, irregularly shaped, Cretaceous hornblende monzonite plugs, from 20 metres to approximately 100 metres in diameter. Mineralization consists of narrow quartz-calcite-sulphide (chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, magnetite and pyrite) veins, disseminated pyrite-pyrrhotite and minor garnet-diopside-sulphide skarn zones.

In 1988, a rock chip sample from a narrow quartz vein in monzonite assayed 0.6 gram per tonne gold and 4.6 grams per tonne silver, while other samples yielded up to 0.86 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 18180).

In 1990, a drill hole (P90-1) intersected 0.32 metre averaging 4.0 grams per tonne gold and 0.042 per cent copper, a second intersection yielded 0.215 per cent copper over 0.1 metre (Assessment Report 20485).

Another area of mineralization, located approximately 2.5 kilometres to the south and referred to as the South zone, consists of siltstone and carbonates of the Creston and Kitchener formations that have been intruded by magnetic gabbroic bodies hosting pyrite and minor chalcopyrite. In 1988, rock chip samples yielded up to 0.09 per cent copper (Assessment Report 18180).

In 2009, a sample (KMACK09-21) from the KMA claims to the east assayed 0.60 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 31486).

In 1969, Cominco completed a program rock and soil sampling and 4.0 line-kilometres of combined ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys on the area as the Wye claims. In 1985, Amoco Canada Petroleum completed a gravity and magnetic survey on the area as the Al claims. During 1986 through 1990, Victoria Resources Corp. completed exploration programs of soil and rock sampling, electromagnetic and magnetic geophysical surveys, geological mapping, 27 percussions drill holes, totalling 222.0 metres, and four diamond drill holes, totalling 575.4 metres, on the area as the Pine claims. In 1992 and 1993, programs of rock and soil sampling, geological mapping, a 19.2 line-kilometre magnetic survey and a 4.9 line-kilometre electromagnetic survey were completed. In 1995, HRC Development completed a gravity survey and an induced polarization survey. In 2000 and 2001, Pathfinder Resources completed exploration programs, including a satellite image study and two diamond drill holes, totalling 931.7 metres on the area immediately east as the Mag claims. The work identified a quartz monzonite-syenite porphyry with 5 to 15 per cent magnetite. In 2005, a remote sensing program was completed. In 2009, Ruby Red Resources prospected, and rock sampled the area as the KMA claims.
