The Tina (Bird Creek Porphyry) occurrence is located southeast of the Kootenay River, near the mouth of Bird Creek.
The area is underlain by basaltic volcanic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Elise Formation (Rossland Group), which have been intruded by dioritic intrusive rocks of the early Jurassic Eagle Creek Plutonic Complex and syenitic to monzonite intrusive rocks of the Eocene Coryell Plutonic Suite.
Locally, a small adit exposes the contact of an altered, coarse-grained porphyry and volcanics of the Rossland Group. The intrusive has been strongly sheared and sericitized, while both units host disseminated pyrite. In 1987, a sample is reported to have assayed 269.7 grams per tonne gold and 35.2 grams per tonne silver, however, re-sampling in 1989 yielded only low values (Property File - L. Lee [1989-11-01]: Summary Report - 49 Creek).
During 1986 through 1989, programs of prospecting, soil and rock sampling and trenching were completed on the area as the 49 Creek group.
