The Stewart Creek Gold zone was found through analysis of historic geochemical sampling on the Stewart property. Geochemical analysis showed an area with elevated zinc, lead and molybdenum.

The host rocks in this area are composed of fine-grained sedimentary rocks intruded by crystalline, subvolcanic, dioritic dikes or plugs. Alteration, including silicification and sericite with carbonate and mariposite was noted in places. Pyrite is common, with minor sphalerite, galena, molybdenite and chalcopyrite associated with veins.

Mineralization occurs in quartz-carbonate veins with sericite and mariposite alteration. Veins were noted to range in size from 2 centimetres to 50 centimetres and wall rock contained significant pyrite in places.

In 2011, Emgold Mining Corp. discovered the Stewart Creek Gold showing after doing a geochemical analysis to verify historical data. Sample 11SRd12 assayed 2.34 grams per tonne gold and 1.03 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 33456).

In 2012, Emgold Mining Corp. completed 1444.5 metres of diamond drilling on the Stewart property. Three of the drillholes targeted the Stewart Creek Gold showing, with several intercepts grading over 1 gram per tonne gold. The best assays came from drillhole 12SC-02, with a reported value of 1.6 metres grading 2.8 grams per tonne gold (Press Release, Emgold Mining Corp., April 8, 2013).
