The Craigtown Creek showing is part of the Stewart property and is located 4 kilometres west of Ymir and 25 kilometres south of Nelson. Locally, the area is underlain by the Elise Formation volcanics of the Jurassic Rossland Group, which are intruded by granodiorite and quartz monzonite of the Middle to Late Jurassic Nelson Intrusions, locally known as the Erie stock. The Erie stock is comprised of a light grey quartz monzonite with associated aplitic and feldspar porphyry dikes. Tertiary latite and rhyolite dikes also occur in the area. There are six types of mineralization observed in the Craigtown Creek area: disseminated and fracture-filling pyrite±pyrrhotite±chalcopyrite; quartz-magnetite veinlets; quartz-veinlet stockwork; pyrite veinlets; quartz-carbonate veins and quartz-sulphide veins. From 1989 to 1990, Minnova Inc. explored the northwest corner of the Stewart property and conducted a soil geochemistry survey, which resulted in the discovery of the Craigtown Creek showing. In 1992, Cameco Corp. completed a program of geological mapping, soil and rock sampling and trenching on the Craigtown Creek area. In 1993, Cameco Corp. conducted a four-hole drill program in the Craigtown Creek area. The highlights of this program include drillhole DEN934, which assayed 24.834 grams per tonne gold over 1 metre (Assessment Report 23092). In 1995, Orvana Minerals optioned the Stewart property and in 1996 and 1997 conducted geologic mapping; rock, soil and moss mat geochemical sampling and ground geophysical surveys in the Craigtown Creek area. From 1995 to 2000, M. Kaufman, P.Geo., conducted geological evaluations as well as examinations of prior geochemical anomalies of the area. In 2001, Emgold Mining Corp. purchased the Stewart property. In 2004, Emgold Mining Corp. completed an exploration program that consisted of prospecting, rock and soil sampling and a six-hole diamond drill program in the Craigtown Creek showing.
