The Little Giant occurrence is located near Ryan Creek, approximately 3.5 kilometres southeast of the community of Trail.

Regionally, the area is underlain by a succession of augite-phyric flows, tuffs, some epiclastic deposits and minor siltstone and argillite of the Lower Jurassic Elise Formation (Rossland Group), which have been intruded by quartz monzonitic rocks of the Early Jurassic Rossland Plutonic Suite, granodioritic rocks of the Middle Jurassic Nelson Batholith, granitic rocks of the Eocene Sheppard Intrusions and syenitic to monzonitic rocks of the Eocene Coryell Plutonic Suite.

Locally on the former Little Giant (L.1992) Crown grant, at least three veins, varying from 0.6 to 0.9 metre wide, host sulphides consisting of arsenopyrite and other sulphides. The veins are reported to widen with depth.

In 1897, assays from the surface were reported to have graded an average of 5.7 grams per tonne gold (Hodges, 1897).

Another zone of mineralization, located approximately 1.2 to the east, is exposed by a former shaft. Dump material from the shaft consists of oxidized volcanic rock with occasional pyrite, pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite with gold values.

In the late 1800s, three veins were developed by extensive opencuts on the Little Giant group. The ore was reported to be free milling. Another shaft, likely of similar age, is reported on the northeastern slope of Lookout Mountain, approximately 1.2 kilometres to the east of the Little Giant workings.

In 1987 and 1988, Tobex Resources completed programs of geochemical sampling, geological mapping, a 113.0 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey and 14 diamond drill holes, totalling 936.0 metres, on the surrounding area as the Gold Dust claims.

In 2006, Klondike Gold Corp. completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping, 20.3 line-kilometres of ground geophysical surveys and a 317.8 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Red Point property.
