The Clubine-Comstock occurrence is located on the northeastern slope of Keystone Mountain, approximately 4 kilometres north of Salmo.

Regionally, the area is underlain by augite-porphyry of the Elise Formation and argillites, mudstone, siltstone, shale and fine clastic rocks of the Hall Formation, both of the Lower Jurassic Rossland Group. These have been intruded by granitic rocks of the Middle Jurassic Nelson Intrusion, granodioritic intrusives of the Cretaceous Anstey Pluton to the east and syenitic to monzonite intrusives of the Coryell Plutonic Suite to the north.

A generally north west-trending zone of shearing controls quartz veining and lamprophyre dikes. The veins and dikes are associated with granites of the Middle to Upper Jurassic Nelson Intrusions. The age of the veins is not known; they may be associated with the Nelson intrusives, the Hidden Creek stock or Tertiary deformation, which elsewhere shows similar orientations (Bulletin 109, page 42).

The Clubine-Comstock has workings on two major shears striking approximately 340 degrees and dipping approximately 35 degrees northeast. The No. 1 level workings are within argillites of the Hall Formation, approximately 60 metres west of the main workings. The quartz vein is sheared and fractured and is more lead-zinc rich, with lower gold values than the main workings. The main workings are on a shear zone associated with a lamprophyre dike. Although both hangingwall and footwall sides of the dike are sheared, quartz veining and mineralization appears to be predominantly confined to the footwall side. Lenses of quartz in the order of 0.5 metre wide, with variable amounts and ratios of pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and minor sphalerite and pyrrhotite, are present. It is reported that the best grade and tonnage came from a zone of intersection of the vein with the Main fault, which strikes more to the west and has a steeper dip than the quartz vein.

In 1949, sampling of the no.5 tunnel yielded up to 17.1 grams per tonne gold and 23.9 grams per tonne silver over 19.5 centimetres (Property File - C.C. Starr [1949-10-01]: Report of a Brief Examination of the Clubine-Comstock Mine).

In 1990, a sample from the “galena stringer zone” assayed 39.3 per cent lead, 5.5 per cent zinc and 988 grams per tonne silver, while samples of the no.1 level assayed 63.7 per cent lead and 2028 grams per tonne silver (Property File - Yellowjack Resources Ltd. Further sampling of the quartz-galena vein yielded up to 55 per cent lead and 2394 grams per tonne silver (Property File - Yellowjack Resources Ltd. [1991-01-01]: Brochure - Yellowjack Resources).

Mine production totalled 3,616 tonnes of ore during the 13 years between 1926 and 1942. Approximately 83 per cent (2,990 tonnes) of the total was mined over 4 years, during 1936 to 1939. Economic minerals recovered included 123,293 grams of gold, 239,463 grams of silver and 818 kilograms of zinc.

During 1926 through 1942, underground development was conducted with the construction of six tunnels. The no.1 and 3 tunnels are located at approximately 1079 metres elevation, the no. 2 tunnel at 1089 metres, the no.4 tunnel at 1065 metres, the no.5 tunnel at 1012 metres and the no.6 tunnel at 949 metres.

In 1975, Shalmar Resources completed a program of soil sampling, a VLF-EM survey and five diamond drill holes, totalling 368.4 metres, on the area as the Rest 1-4 claims. In 1990 and 1991, Yellowjack Resources completed programs of geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys and trenching.
