Capsule Geology

The Zinger 41 (Shorty Lakes) occurrence is in the southwestern head waters of Shorty Creek, at an elevation of approximately 2100 metres.

The area is underlain by sedimentary rocks of the middle Creston Formation intruded at their (faulted) contact with Kitchener Formation by diorite sills of the Moyie Intrusions; all these units belong to the mid-Proterozoic Purcell Supergroup.

Locally, a zone of limonite-sericite-jarosite–altered sediments, located between two fault zones, hosts quartz veinlets with pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and malachite. The faults, separated by 300 metres, are parallel and strike north east.

In 2013, a rock sample (ZG13-59) assayed 25.66 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 34730).

Two other zones of similar mineralization are reported in the area. The first is located approximately 350 metres up slope to the south west. In 2002, three rock samples (ZR-48, 162 and 163) assayed 9.19, 8.26 and 9.37 grams per tonne gold, respectively (Assessment Report 27090). In 2013, a rock sample (ZG13-51) assayed 17.26 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 34730).

The other area of mineralization is located a west-northwest trending ridge, approximately 900 metres to the northwest and at an elevation of approximately 2130 metres. In 2002, a rock sample (ZR-194) assayed 5.60 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 27090).
