The Real Thing (L.6864) occurrence is in the southeastern head waters of Hellroaring Creek, approximately 900 metres southwest of Gold Run Lake and at an elevation of approximately 2000 metres.

The area is underlain by grey to purple coloured quartzites and siltstones with minor interbedded argillite that are part of the mid-Proterozoic Creston Formation (Purcell Supergroup). These well-bedded rocks strike 030 degrees and dip from vertical to 75 degrees east. Quartz is abundant, occurring as small stringers or veins conforming to the general strike of the country rock and as larger veins or lenses that crosscut the bedding; the best mineralization is in the latter. Faulting and shearing are evident, with the largest displacement noted being 6 metres.

Locally, two zones have been explored on the Real Thing (L.6864) and Viking (L.6866) Crown grants.

Two former adits are located on the Real Thing (Lot 6864) and Call Back (Lot 6863) Crown grants. The first exposes a quartz vein that varies from 5 to 20 centimetres in thickness conforming with the strike of the country rock over a strike length of 22 metres but does not appear to show any mineralization. The second adit is driven on a quartz vein that strikes westerly and dips to the south, crosscutting the bedding; it is approximately 30 centimetres wide at the mouth of the adit and pinches to a few centimetres 15 metres from the portal. At its widest point it is well mineralized with pyrite, chalcopyrite, native copper and traces of malachite. Gold is visible as small flakes the size of a pin head in association with native copper.

Another mineralized quartz vein, on Lot 6866 (Viking), strikes 025 degrees, dips 80 degrees to the east, is approximately 45 centimetres wide and is heavily mineralized with pyrite. It is traceable for 60 metres to the south.

In 1987, a sample (42479E) from the adit on the Real Thing Crown grant assayed 134.7 grams per tonne gold and 77.0 grams per tonne silver (Property File - C.P.S. Explorations (1987-04-01): Preliminary Prospecting Report for Trans Arctic Explorations - The Swenson Claim Group)

In 2002, rock samples (ZR-77 and 78) from old workings yielded 3.01 and 4.23 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 27090).

The area has been historically explored by at least two adits, on the Real Thing (L.6864) and Call Back (6863) Crown grants, and a number of trenches dating back to the early 1900’s. In 1985, the Fort Steele Grubstaking Syndicate conducted a program of soil and rock sampling on the area as the CND claims. In 1987, Partners Oil & Minerals completed a program of soil sampling and a 47.5 line-kilometre combined electromagnetic and magnetic survey on the area. In 1988, Trans-Artic Explorations prospected the area as the Swenson property. During 2000 through 2002, National Gold Corporation completed programs of geological mapping and silt, soil and rock sampling on the area as the HS and Zinger claims. In 2003, Chapleau Resources conducted an extensive exploration program of surface prospecting, rock and soil sampling and geological mapping on the area as the Zinger property. In 2009, Ruby Red Resources prospected and sampled the area. During 2010 through 2013, SG Spirit Gold and PJX Resources completed programs of rock and soil sampling, geological mapping and airborne and ground geophysical surveys on the area.
