The North Morgan Group is in the north eastern head waters of Sawmill Creek, at an elevation of approximately 1720 metres.
Regionally, the area is underlain by mid-Proterozoic rocks of the Aldridge, Creston and Kitchener formations (Purcell Supergroup). These are intruded by mid-Proterozoic diorite and gabbro sills and dikes of the Moyie Intrusions. Cretaceous quartz monzonite and granodiorite stocks occur just off the property to both the east and the west.
Locally, trenches have exposed a 3-metre wide zone of altered hematite breccia with silicification and quartz veining.
In 1991, four rock samples (81989 to 81992) yielded from 0.244 to 1.60 per cent copper with up to 0.11 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 22048). In 1994, a rock sample (RB120S 70E) assayed 0.18 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 23741). In 2002, a rock sample (SH-27) from the upper trench yielded 1.115 per cent copper (Assessment Report 27098).
Another zone of mineralization located a short distance down slope to the southwest, consists of a 10-metre wide zone of silicification and shearing with minor quartz veins orientated to the north east. Fine- to coarse- grained pyrite is associated with chlorite and hematite. In 1991, a rock sample (81986) assayed 0.41 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 22048).
A third zone of zone of silicification with quartz veining is located approximately 500 metres to the north- north west. The zone is greater than 3 metres wide and trends to the north east. The veins host specular hematite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and chlorite with rare malachite and bornite. In 1991, two rock samples (81723 and 81724) yielded 0.15 and 0.16 per cent copper, respectively (Assessment Report 22048). In 1994, a rock sample (RB100N 60E) assayed 0.112 per cent lead and 0.235 per cent zinc (Assessment Report 23741). In 2013, a rock sample (MKKG-068) assayed 0.42 gram per tonne gold, while other samples (MKKF-42 and QM07-2) yielded up to 0.161 per cent lead and 0.36 per cent copper, respectively (Assessment Report 34197).
In 2007, drilling on a surface iron oxide occurrence with copper mineralization intersected highly silicified sections that locally contained hematite with anomalous copper values up to 0.113 per cent over 4.5 metres (Hole QM07-03; Assessment Report 34197).
In 1978, Meridian Resources completed a program of geochemical sampling and geological mapping on the area. During 1979 through 1985, Gallant Gold Mines completed programs of rock, soil and silt sampling, trenching, geological mapping and ground electromagnetic and magnetic surveys on the area as the Perry Creek property. In 1984, Trans-Artic Explorations completed a program of soil sampling, geological mapping and a ground electromagnetic survey on the area as the Cougar 1-2 claims. In 1987, Chapleau Resources completed a program of soil, silt and rock sampling, trenching and geological mapping on the area as the Racki claims, Morgan property. In 1990, a 200 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey was completed. In 1991, a program of rock and soil sampling was completed. In 1994, Wealth Resources completed a program of soil sampling and a 6.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the area. In 1996, Klondike Reef Mines completed five diamond drill holes, totalling 592.8 metres, on the area. Also, at this time, the area immediately south was prospected as the Golden Gap claims. In 2002, Klondike Gold completed a program of rock sampling, prospecting and geological mapping on the area as the QM claims. In 2007, Klondike Gold completed an airborne geophysical survey and five diamond drill holes, totalling 1601.71 metres, on four targets. In 2012, Klondike Gold completed a program of rock and previous drill core sampling, prospecting and geological sampling on the area as the Quartz Mountain property.
