This Evans (Kokanee) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1930 metres on the northwestern slopes of Mount Evans, approximately 2 kilometres southeast of the junction of Fiddler and Machean creeks.

The area is underlain by quartzite and siltstone of the mid-Proterozoic (middle) Aldridge Formation (Purcell Supergroup), intruded by meta-gabbro or meta-diorite of the Proterozoic Moyie Intrusions. Three or more of these sills, from 60 to 180 metres thick, strike in a northwest direction through the area for an aggregate length of 3.5 kilometres.

Locally, mineralization has been exposed in two locations referred to as the Evans and Kokanee trenches; the Kokanee trench is located approximately 300 hundred metres to the south east and 50 metres up slope of the Evans trench.

At the Evans occurrence, a diorite-gabbro hosts 0.3 to 3.0-metre wide mineralized quartz-calcite vein(s) in a shear zone, trending 085 to 090 degrees and dipping 85 to 90 degrees south. Mineralization consists of pyrite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite with minor galena and sphalerite.

In 1972, two channel samples (CH1934 and CH1935), 0.6 to 1.5 metres wide, assayed 2.16 and 1.15 per cent copper with 13.0 and 6.2 grams per tonne silver, respectively, whereas a grab sample (GB1942) assayed 5.17 per cent copper, 1.57 per cent lead and 74.6 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 4235).

In 1984, four dump samples (E-001 to E-004) assayed from 0.38 to 3.19 per cent copper, 0.04 to 1.33 per cent lead, trace to 0.12 per cent zinc and 41.0 to 333.8 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 12825).

In 1989, a chip sample (7212) assayed 1.68 per cent copper and 9.0 grams per tonne silver across 1.2 metres from the Evans trench, while a grab sample (7215) from a quartz vein to the south assayed 3.12 per cent copper and 18.6 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 19149).

The Kokanee trench exposes an irregularly shaped, chlorite-sericite-epidote–altered diorite-gabbro body hosting a northwest trending, quartz-calcite veined shear zone up to 7 metres wide. Mineralization consists of pyrite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite and malachite with minor sphalerite, galena and tetrahedrite occurring as disseminations, fracture coatings and narrow streaks. The zone has been traced along surface for at least 60 metres.

In 1989, a chip sample (7214) across 2 metres of vein assayed 0.32 per cent copper, 1.21 per cent lead and 117.5 grams per tonne silver, whereas a grab sample (7216) taken from a quartz vein, located 50 metres to the east and on strike of the previous vein, assayed 1.22 per cent copper (Assessment Report 19149).

In 1904, Messrs. C. and W. Evans, of Marysville, recorded assessment work on the Pacific, Curfew, Twilight and Sunset claims on Fiddler Creek. Their holdings were expanded in 1915 to include claims in Pollen Basin and Kelly Basin. Most of their exploration work to that point had been done at their main camp near the head of Fiddler Creek, where an approximately 91-metres long adit was driven. Their combined holdings were known as the Evans or Achilles property. Assessment work by the Evans brothers was reported annually until approximately 1926.

The JAG 1-58 claims were staked in March 1972 by A. Hopkins, of Toronto. Mount Evans Copper Corp. Inc., incorporated in Ontario in May 1972, acquired 18 of the Jag claims. During this time a program of rock and soil sampling, geological mapping and trenching was completed on the claims. The following year, a program of rock, silt and soil sampling and a 0.2 line-kilometre induced polarization survey were completed. In 1984 and 1985, Grom Resources completed programs of geochemical sampling, geological mapping and a 9.5 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey on the area as the Goodhope and Whitefish claim groups. In 1989, Yellow Band Resources completed a program of geological mapping and a 6.0 line-kilometre induced polarization survey on the area as the Evans 1 and Terra 3 claims.
