Capsule Geology

The Alpha-Eagle occurrences are located on the south- to southeast-facing slope of Eagle Mountain, east of July Creek and approximately 6.5 kilometres northwest of the community of Grand Forks.

The area is underlain by limestone, greenstone and argillite of the Permian Attwood Group and sharpstone conglomerate and limestone of the Triassic Brooklyn Group.

Locally, at least 13 zones of massive pyrrhotite with minor chalcopyrite mineralization occur as small lenses and pots replacing crystalline limestone and the contact area between the limestone and siliceous hornfelsed sediments over an area of approximately 750 metres north-south and 165 metres east-west. Individual zones vary from 1.5 to 6.0 metres in width and from 3.0 to 12.0 metres in length.

Another zone of mineralization, located on the central Eagle L-577 lot, comprises sphalerite-galena-chalcopyrite mineralization occurring as flattish seams (fissure fillings and/or stringers) in a limestone which has been exposed by historical pits and an adit.

Work History

A number of historical pits and at least one adit, likely dating to the late 1800s or early 1900s, are reported to have been developed on the area.

In 1969, International Mogul Mines Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and a 12.0 line-kilometre ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the Alpha, Eagle, Homestake and Myrtle claims. Three samples (1, 2 and 3) yielded from 0.50 to 1.58 per cent copper, trace to 26.4 grams per tonne silver and 0.31 to 0.62 gram per tonne gold (Assessment Report 2435).

In 1983, Kettle River Resources Ltd. completed a program of geological mapping on the area as the RB property. In 1986, Noranda Mining and Exploration Inc. completed a program of geological mapping on the area as the Eagle Mountain group.

During 2004 through 2006, the area was prospected as the CB Chance property.

In 2020, Belmont Resources Inc. completed a program of airborne LiDAR and magnetic surveys on the area as the Come By Chance (CBC) property.
