Capsule Geology

The Glory (Southwest) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 700 metres on a gentle southwest facing slope, north of Volcanic Creek and approximately 700 metres east of the Granby River.

Regionally, the Granby River fault, a major structure of the Republic graben, occurs in the area. The fault marks the boundary of the Paleozoic rocks to the west and the Grand Forks Metamorphic Complex, which consists of a thick sequence of quartzites, marbles, gneisses, and intrusives, to the east. The Paleozoic sequence consists predominantly of cherts, siliceous argillites, and siliciclastic rocks of the Devonian to Permian Knob Hill Group and undivided sedimentary rocks of the Triassic Brooklyn Formation. These have been intruded by granodioritic rocks of the Cretaceous Anstey pluton and syenitic to monzonitic rocks of the Eocene Coryell Plutonic Suite to the north and west.

Locally, two historic trenches, each approximately 20 metres long, exposed variable amounts of pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, galena, and sphalerite mineralization. Another trench, located approximately 250 metres to the northwest, exposes galena mineralization. The mineralized zones are hosted by chert and greenstone of the Knobhill Group and within a syenite, possibly of the Eocene Coryell Plutonic Suite.

Another zone of mineralization, comprising a schist hosting pyrite and referred to as the Glory (South) zone, is exposed by two historic pits and a water-filled adit located approximately 600 metres to the east of the previous zone.

Work History

Historic adits, shafts and trenches are reported in the area likely dating to the early 1900s, likely related to exploration on the near by Golden Eagle (MINFILE 082ESE079) occurrence.

In 1984, L. Sookochoff completed a program of soil sampling and a 2.8 line-kilometre ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the Glory claims. The following year, Beverly Development Inc. completed a further program of soil sampling and ground electromagnetic surveying on the Glory claims.

In 1990, MMC Resources Ltd. completed a program of prospecting, geological mapping, and rock sampling on the area as the Suzi claims.
