A small impure body of quartz occurs in phyllite of the Devonian to Permian Knob Hill Group, near a diorite dyke. The quartz is 10.7 metres wide, strikes 190 degrees and dips west to vertical. Mica and feldspar specks are evident in the quartz and red weathering indicates possible minor pyrite content.

Silican Resources Ltd. staked the Sil 1 to 8 claims and investigated their silica potential in 1973.
