In 1974, Mascot Mines and Petroleum conducted a drill program in the area of the Moreen, Buckhorn (082ESE051), Gotcha, Tam O'Shanter (082ESE130) and Iva Lenore (082ESE172). A 45 degree angle hole that penetrated 60 metres of rock on the Moreen intersectied fine-grained light green chloritized diorite possibly of the Jurassic to Cretaceous Nelson Intrusions. Secondary copper carbonates and sulphides were encountered from 0 to 6 metres depth but the best sulphides with copper were found from 6 to 15 metres.

The property was prospected by geologist Gordon Richmond in 1997 who was the reported owner of 3 contiguous 2 post mineral claims which included reverted Crown grants: Buckhorn (L.1107), Moreen Fr. (L.1709) and X.L.C.R. (L.1556S). Richmond mapped out some of the old working exposed on surface. See Buckhorn for further details of the history.

In 2007, Saville Resources established a 19.7 line-kilometre grid over the Buckhorn and Moreen occurrences to completed IP and ground magnetometer surveys.

In 2008, Saville Resources completed an excavator trenching program on the occurrence. Results showed 32.0 metres grading 0.23 percent copper, and 0.12 grams per tonne gold in trench TR 08-1, and 30.0 metres grading 0.17 percent copper, and 0.09 grams per tonne gold in trench TR 08-4 (Caron, L. (2012-11-16): National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report on the Bud-Elk Property).

In 2012, Saville Resources completed a soil sampling and mapping program over the 2007 IP survey grid.
