Capsule Geology

Greenstone, quartzite, argillite, limestone and altered sedimentary rocks of the Devonian to Permian Knob Hill Group are cut by Cretaceous granodiorite of the Jurassic to Cretaceous Nelson Intrusions. Minor mafic dikes are present along fractures and shear zones which cut the granitic rock. Magnetite, hematite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite and molybdenite occur in lime silicate skarn on the Stan No.14 and 6.

The Stan No.14 workings located in the southeastern part of the Stan claims included several cuts and a short branching tunnel from which a raise has been driven to the surface. The Stan No.6 workings are located in the northwest area of the Stan claims and like the Stan 14 include a few cuts and a short tunnel from which raise has been driven to the surface. Both of these early workings explore areas of mineralized skarn material within embayments in the granitic rock.

Intial sampling, prospecting and mapping was conducted on the Stan claims in 1965 by King Resources Company. In 1966, a 36.8 kilometre Induced Polarization survey was conducted over the property for King Resources. From 1967 to 1968 , over 400 samples were collected by King Resources for geochemical analysis. In 1969, King Resources conducted a soil and magnetometer survey over the property. In 1970, Jason Explorers Ltd. was the operator of the King Resources owned property and drilled 155.7 metres in 7 holes. In 1971, Jason Explorers conducted soil sampling, an induced polarization and a hammer seismic program over the Stan property in 1971. In 1972, Jason Explorers drilled four holes totaling 353.55 metre on the Stan 3 Fr. Results are not published.
